Preteen Wise Minds Group

Preteen Wise Minds Group

The Preteen Wise Minds Group is a gret place to learn new skills! Preteens will learn about emotion regulation, relationship skills, problem-solving, and more. Parents will learn how to support their preteens as they enter the adolescent years.

This group can be helpful to preteens who struggle with big emotions that feel out of control, negative self-talk, conflict with parents, or who aren't sure what to do in tricky social situations. Parents attend the group too so that they can help support these skills at home.

Our group is based on evidence-based treatment methods, primarily cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). Our group will be provided by registered social workers who have many years of experience in child and youth mental health services. The group is for both preteens and parents will work on skill-building in the following areas: emotion regulation skills, distress tolerance skills, relationship skills including problem-solving and communication skills, parent-youth conflict resolution skills, and mindfulness skills.

Preteen Wise Minds runs at 6 PM on the third Wednesday of each month in 2026 (with no sessions in July or August). Participants can as attend one, some, or all of the sessions. If you would like to register your preteen in this session please phone or email Dragonfly.
